My top 10 favourite free PDF Sewing Pattern

We live in a crazy world right now. There is so much uncertainty about everything in our lives. Whatever you are feeling right now is okay. If you want to be super productive and sew up a storm, that’s great. If you want to lay in bed, watch Tiger King on Netflix, eat ice cream and cry, that’s perfectly okay too.

I am noticing that I gravitate towards things I know and love in these difficult times, things that make my feel safe and protected. For me, that’s sewing, listening to Swiss music and drinking black tea with honey and milk. Today, I am going to share my favorite free sewing patterns with you. There is nothing better than finding a free sewing pattern that you love. Not paying anything for the pattern means you have all the budget to splurge on nice fabric!

Here is a list of my top 10 free sewing patterns:

Pipa the Pouch by Masin

Shameless self promotion here:).

Pipa the pouch was my first free sewing pattern. I have around 6 of these pouches and they are great as make up bags, to hold sewing tools, pens or tampons. They also make very cute personal presents. To sew up a Pipa the pouch you have to calculate in around an hour and a half which is fantastic. I love that I get to use up my scrap fabrics from past projects with them too.

The Morning glory top is such a favourite in the sewing community. It was one of Sarah Kirsten’s earlier patterns and it is a joy to sew. The pattern works with your own body measurements and guides you through how to make the pattern yourself. The top can either be tied at the back or at the front and is perfect for hot summer days or can be worn over a long sleeve tee on colder days. I will have to make a second one of these when Australian summer is in full swing.

I handmade this bra for my best friend Anja when we were travelling though India. It is such a classic shape and an easy intro into bra sewing. The bra does not have any wires or complicated closure so it is really easy and quick to sew. The sewing pattern is beautifully illustrated which makes the sewing experience even sweeter.

This peplum top was my first sewing project after we can back from our 18 months bicycle trip around the world. I haven’t seen a sewing machine in forever and was overly excited to get back into sewing. It is a great beginner’s pattern with beautiful little details.

I made this tee last year for my beautiful finacé. He loves it and wears it all the time. It is such a great basic. Thank you Elbe Textiles for this beauty!

Tessuti is an Australian fabric shop that designs sewing patterns to sell with their gorgeous fabrics. I have only ever tried one of their sewing pattern: The Monroe Turtleneck. I made the turtleneck out of a viscose jersey (also from Tessuti).

It is the perfect autumn winter wardrobe staple.
